‘Do It Scared’ Turns Fear Into Action

Do It Scared book

Ruth Soukup's new book beats fear with a big stick

I maintain that everyone has a story that makes others shake their heads and be grateful that the tale isn’t theirs. My family has its own narrative that others may find heartbreaking. But for me, it has just been my life.

Ruth Soukup has a story that both hurts my heart and makes me want to stand up and cheer. That story has been her motivation to build a successful online business. And she’s used her story to help others who are fearful and leery of stepping out of their comfort zones to live their dream lives.

Her newest book, “Do It Scared,” continues her movement to encourage others to walk with courage and live the lives they love.

“Do It Scared” not only helps readers identify the basis for their fears, but also gives practical advice on how to move past them and live their dreams.

I am anxiously awaiting my physical copy of the book, but I was lucky enough to be part of a team that received a digital copy a few weeks ago. I’ve already read it, but I’m planning to go through my hard copy with pen and highlighter in hand. You see, I needed to read exactly what Ruth has written. It seemed she was writing specifically for me. The book has given me the push (shove) I needed to step out and move.

I am a People Pleaser, one of seven Fear Archetypes described in “Do It Scared.” I worry constantly about how others will judge me based on my writing, my blog posts, my Facebook or Instagram stories. Or worse, they’ll judge my husband or children based on something I have done, said or written.

Ruth’s book (and her podcast of the same name) has given me the encouragement to dream big and work past my fears. Have no doubt, facing one’s fears and moving ahead in spite of them takes work. Hard work. Lots of hard work. But work that is good for your mind, body and soul.

I encourage everyone to grab a copy of “Do It Scared,” take the Fear Assessment, figure out your Fear Archetype, and develop a plan to conquer it. All the tools you need to do that can be found on the pages of “Do It Scared.”

Buy it. Read it. Devour it. Implement it. Dream big. Rise above your fear. Live a life you love.
